(C) 2000 Diary of a Spirit
THE LIE THAT CHANGED THE WORLD
How futile is the sound of a thought,
When it echoes in your head.
How drastic is the time it takes,
To write it down to keep.
The speed it takes, to dissipate,
And then just drift away.
So many thoughts,
I could have kept,
How I knew they would change the world.
But they went away in such a flash,
I wish they would have stayed.
But sometimes it doesn't really matter,
To let a thought go by.
It's when you realize, it could have mattered,
That it tortures you very mind.
But a manic mind goes so fast,
You seldom take regard.
Here it comes, and then it's gone,
And your off to a running start.
The endless days, I've spent in haze,
Drifting through endless thought.
And not a word was set aside, It all was lost in time.
But lithium has a way,
Of making thought a dream,
And dreams are not of conscious,
So you can never store them away.
But oh the things I've visioned,
While on a lithium haze.
He said it was to help me,
But it erased what I needed most.
The intellect is a precious thing,
When you use it to it's length.
Enjoying it is all that matters,
When you know that it exists.
But then it's gone, and all is lost,
And all for the sake of fear.
The fear that others have of you,
And what they won't understand.
A voice is like a companion,
That helps you in times of need.
But the ones that yield to bigotry,
Are the ones that torture me.
They say that this is abnormal,
Yet their minds can't compare.
It searches and proves all that is stored,
And tells me what to do.
The ones that have had murder put inside,
They're the ones that are truly sick.
But they won't admit,
That religion is the trick,
And it holds the magic key.
Their religion taught them bigotry,
And that some are coursed of God.
Forced dominance and terrorism,
Is the way to deal with them,
And it is our right to do God's will.
And low and behold,
It's stored in their minds,
And it tempts them to do the same.
Oh just give them a pill,
And forget about what's real.
They wouldn't really understand anyway.
But what really destroys you,
Is what's put there from ones youth,
And lost through the years and forgotten.
It's the time of ones life,
When all things are kept,
And used when the time comes to account.
"Train a child up in the way that is right,
And he'll remain that way",
So Solomon said.
So which way is right,
Or will it be an endless debate,
Did they forget Solomon was a Jew.
I'm sure it's not appropriate,
To say there's only one way, when one way is the majority rule.
For time has testified one thing for sure,
The majority has always been wrong.
But the minority you see, are people like me,
Which they insist are abnormal at best.
But if abnormal is normal and normal is ill,
Then what does that make the rest.
