(C) 2000 Diary of a Spirit
THE SILENCING OF THE TRUTH
And what about the way we were,
A thousand years ago.
War pestilence discontent,
Has it really changed that much.
But what about the individual,
The one that no one knows.
Does he subscribe, with all the rest, Or is he a heretic,
Of what seems right? Is it so terrible to be a heretic,
Of everything that's deemed to be right?
How could we search and prove all things,
If we side with all the rest?
An oddball is mocked by one and all,
But they truly don't understand.
He seeks to be different,
And not a social clone.
But the spirit of supremacy Is consumed with denial,
And to subscribe to it, is only natural,
If you think that your right.
But what about, a docile heart,
That doesn't seek to rule.
Is abiding in humility,
A crime that all must see?
To make a point, that you are right,
Because the majority, sides with you.
What manner of arrogance,
To ignore a doubtful mind,
And condemn it to be all wrong.
To direct militant behavior Toward a belittling thought,
And declare it to be untrue.
To hold to that which glorifies you,
And ignore what could change the world.
Oh the pitiful existence man has become,
To think he is advanced beyond all.
And yet a dog will comfort another,
When it is injured and in need of help.
And though it can't heal the damage,
It licks the would to do it's best.
While a human stands and watches one die,
For fear to get involved.
How dare we say we are superior,
When we mock everything that is true?
Nature itself proclaims us a fraud,
And condemns us to rot in the grave.
And yet in all our righteousness,
There is no immortality.
Or the wisdom to dwell in harmony.
But it seems to suffice,
For a few who have choice,
To reject that which is assumed to be right.
They will abide in the peace,
Which comes from their choice,
To seek that which stands to the test.
And the mockery they receive,
For thinking as they please,
Only serves to help them stand fast.
And the ones who subscribe,
To the majority rule,
Are the ones that let wisdom,
Pass by.
