(C) 2000 Diary of a Spirit
REDEMPTION
Why cry over spilled milk!
That's what they always say.
Is crying begging,
Or just looking for someone to pay?
Who are the ones who seek redemption,
But refuse to keep the royal law?
This law that was the one for all,
Until all became a waste.
Untamed in spirit, and lusting for life,
But still consumed,
With the need for inner peace.
Or was it really peace they sought,
Or just an easy way out.
Years gone by, but no one sees,
What was accomplished in the streets.
Fire hoses, tear gas too,
Gunshot wounds that took our youth.
They were murderers then,
And will always be; But why are they still here,
And paving the way.
26 amendments in 1971,
So many now, there's no end to the count.
Why the need for so much ruling,
So much speculation from the mind.
And yet they seek their guidance,
Because their holy ones say;
It's their gods will.
The pity they seek, for the sins that they commit,
But why not the law, that frees them from it all.
So why do they ignore it,
And keep on crying;
Praying for their god to end it all.
Was it not said,
To those who endure to the end?
Is there some exception,
I don't understand?
They can take off and go,
On and excursion of faith,
And I'm stuck here, without food to eat.
How cruel is this fear that they use,
To mold them, and make them adhere.
But it's gotten out of hand,
And they don't know why.
What were they doing;
Listening to sing along with Mitch.
This love that was spoken of,
So many years ago,
Was a love for a law that was true,
And it brought forth a child,
That soon became a man,
And brought back the spirit of truth.
But the spirit of truth,
Was the law that was inside,
And it worked in their members,
And reigned. Then the law fell asleep,
Or was it them? And the same thing happened,
Back then.
But why they don't see this,
I don't understand! It's so simple,
A child could understand.
But is it not written,"
If you are not willing to become Like a child;
You're not worthy of this kingdom That's within".
So how do they take ,
The kingdom within,
And make it The kingdom without.
Dogma ideologies, and alliterative lies,
Philosophies and theories divine.
But where are the results,
And the perfection that they claim,
Which will come if only,
You subscribe.
Their seeking redemption,
From things they don't understand.
For if they did,
They wouldn't seek a way out.
So why call it redemption,
If it's all just a lie.
Does misery need company,
And that's all it's about?
Fanatical beliefs,
Are dangerous to the rest,
Who seek to live in peace,
And forgive and forget.
But why can't they do this much,
And abide in the law,
That was given, to cause the kingdom to come.
Love your countryman,
As you love yourself,
And all will go well with you.
I think their minds are gone,
And they're blinded by the ones,
Which they seek, for answers,
And what to believe.
Their redemption is a lie,
It's not for the ones, who wait to die,
And be born again,
In another time and place,
By enduring to the end at all cost.
